Incidence of Spina Bifida in Children; The Role of the Pharmacists
This CPD training event is a live, virtual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session designed to equip practising pharmacists with up‑to‑date knowledge and practical skills for the prevention, early detection, and multidisciplinary management of spina bifida. A faculty of highly qualified clinicians, clinical pharmacists, public‑health specialists, and paediatric neurosurgeons will guide participants through the latest epidemiological trends, evidence‑based pharmacological interventions, and counselling strategies for families. TARGET AUDIENCE – WHY PHARMACISTS?
Although spina bifida is a congenital condition, pharmacists occupy a pivotal position across the continuum of care—from antenatal folic‑acid advocacy and periconceptional supplementation, to postoperative medication optimisation and long‑term adherence support. Community, hospital, and public‑health pharmacists who routinely counsel women of child‑bearing age, manage paediatric prescriptions, or sit on medicines‑safety committees will find the content directly relevant to their daily practice. Participation will also satisfy mandatory CPD credits for licensure renewal.
