The 2024 CPD Symposium of the Catholic Health Professionals’ Guild, titled "Combating the Triple Burden of Disease in Ghana: Using Data Effectively; Managing Ethical Concerns", is a virtual training event designed to address the pressing challenge posed by the triple burden of infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and injuries. This annual symposium brings together experts and professionals to engage in dynamic discussions, share best practices, and equip participants with actionable knowledge to tackle this multifaceted health crisis in Ghana.

 

Through data-driven insights, practical solutions, and ethical considerations, this symposium underscores the interconnectedness of these conditions and the importance of promoting investment in health, not only to prevent premature deaths but also to ensure a healthier and more sustainable future.

 

The symposium will run from Tuesday, 17th December to Friday, 20th December 2024 on this platform from 15:00 – 18:00 GMT daily. Each day will feature expert facilitators, interactive sessions, and practical takeaways.

 

DAILY BREAKDOWN

 

DAY 1: TUESDAY, 17TH DECEMBER 2024

Title: The Triple Burden of Disease in Ghana: Challenges & Proffering Solutions

Title: Effective Data Utilisation in Combating the Triple Disease Burden: Practical Data Collection and Analysis using ChiSquares Platform

This session will focus on the relevance of data for healthcare decision-making, providing participants with hands-on techniques for survey creation, data collection, and analysis using the ChiSquares platform.

 

DAY 3: THURSDAY, 19TH DECEMBER 2024

Title: Ethical Concerns in Health Data Acquisition & Use: Case Scenarios & Publishing

Course Description

This annual virtual symposium brings together healthcare professionals to address some of Ghana’s most pressing health challenges: the interconnected burden of infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, and injuries. The event provides a platform to explore the root causes, impactful solutions, and ethical considerations surrounding these health crises while emphasizing the critical role of data in driving informed decisions and improving outcomes. Over four days, participants will engage in insightful discussions led by experienced experts, focusing on strategies for managing health burdens, leveraging practical tools for data collection and analysis, addressing ethical issues in health data use, and mitigating the effects of environmental hazards on public health. This training is designed to equip participants with actionable knowledge and skills to promote healthier lifestyles and advocate for sustainable, data-driven healthcare initiatives.
