
Prof. Alice Cheng is a distinguished Endocrinologist and Professor, currently serving at both Trillium Health Partners, Credit Valley Hospital, and St. Michael's Hospital. She is also a faculty member at the University of Toronto, where she contributes to the academic development of future healthcare professionals. With a long-standing commitment to the field of diabetes care, Prof. Cheng has played a pivotal role in the development of the Diabetes Canada clinical practice guidelines, serving on various expert committees since 2003 and chairing the 2013 version.
Prof. Cheng is also known for her leadership within the broader diabetes community, having served as the Chair of the Professional Section of Diabetes Canada and as the Chair of the Scientific Planning Committee for the 2023 and 2024 American Diabetes Association annual scientific meetings. Her extensive contributions to advancing knowledge in diabetes care have earned her multiple honors, including the prestigious Charles H. Best Award and the Gerald S. Wong Service Award from Diabetes Canada.
In addition to her clinical and academic roles, Prof. Cheng is an Associate Editor for the journal Diabetes Care and co-hosts the podcast series Diabetes Care On Air. She is also the founder of The Med Ed Pledge, an initiative aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion in continuing medical education, and CMEX, a database that connects healthcare professionals in Canada who are committed to medical education.
